Main Line Bridal Shower Trends: A Citrus-Themed Cake with Hand-Piped Florals

A fresh, vibrant theme is one of my absolute favorite ways to kick off the celebration season. I recently had the pleasure of creating this custom two-tier centerpiece for a beautifully styled citrus-themed bridal shower in the Greater Philadelphia area.

To bring this sweet, summery theme to life, I combined two distinct texturing techniques. I hand-piped the large, prominent focal blossoms and delicate accent petals to give them a soft, lifelike dimension. For the structural foliage and the detailed, textured citrus slices cascading down the tiers, I utilized a palette knife technique. This sculptural method mimics the organic texture of real orange segments and lush garden leaves, creating a unique, painterly look.
